Manufactured Home Insurance is sometimes an overlooked commodity in our society today. Why? Sometimes it is because a mobile home paid for and the mortgage is gone, or the home is older. Perhaps it is because unlike site-built homes mobile homes actually devalue over time. Remember though that it is an asset. Your asset, your home, where you live, your sanctuary, your little spot in the world. It probably holds almost everything you own inside it. Nothing you can purchase that you can hold in your hands is more important. You must protect it.
Fire, theft, wind, and even liability are potential sources of loss. Your sewer might back up all over your carpet, or perhaps your neighbor's tree will fall on your home in a wind or ice storm. What happens if you have a fire? How will you replace your things? Where will you live? And how will you pay for it? Many mobile home policies cover the expenses of living somewhere else temporarily. You won't end up staying at the local shelter while you try to recoup and adjust to what has happened. You have the funds to pay for shelter. And while many items you have are probably irreplaceable from a sentimental standpoint, from a practical standpoint you will need to replace much of it.
Mobile Home insurance is available to renters and landlords too. Being a landlord and entrusting your property to the use of another is a risk. The activities of your renter could put you at risk for physical loss or a liability exposure. As a renter, your landlord likely has property liability insurance. This does not cover your property, only the landlord's. Landlords and renters need to protect themselves from risk, much the same as a standard homeowner. Your stuff is your stuff whether you live there or not, or whether you own the home or not.
